@coleens_ @darkuncle@infosec.exchange the push to outlaw cannabis in the 1930s is what popularized the word marijuana in the process. Politicians used it because it sounded more "exotic" and helped them stoke anti-Mexican immigration sentiment. All came down to "but they're smuggling drugs!"

Wild how shit never changes on that front
