Failure is an ever-present possibility irrespective of the consequences thereof, and either we make peace with that or nothing gets done. Sanity is, by definition, doing something and expecting a result. "Everything happens for a reason" is absurd in its own right. Anything happening for a reason, by definition, necessitates that some other things also happen but for no particular reason. Everything happening for a reason is logically equivalent to a program that compiles to only ones without a single zero. The ones don't mean anything without the zeroes. If everything happens for a reason then nothing does. A skeptic in the truest sense of the word begs for evidence sufficient to disprove themselves.
