@futurebird@sauropods.win My memories of being attacked for doing something "for girls" are all that I pitied the person attacking me for not knowing that girls and boys can be interested in the same things. Sometimes being a bit neuro-different, as I guess I must be, helps, as I didn't learn to be traumatised by those shaming attempts and never even worried that I wasn't.

@suearcher@toot.wales I've sold at well over 20 boot sales. Merchandising: Try to have some items that will draw people in, even if you have no intention of selling them. Don't let eye candy items go too soon or have some spares that you hold back. Arrange the goods to tell a story or at least make it easier for people to absorb "themes" by grouping. Buyers can get cognitive overload if you go too dense with packing items on tables. Have some boxes for people to rummage through, people like finding treasure. Pricing: Allow 25% haggle down room on all prices. Price stickers aren't usually worth doing but writing down your own guide for yourself can be helpful as it means you don't have to keep all that information in your heads. Have a strategy for bundling. Beware of people who attempt to bundle nice things with cheap things, in order to get nice things at cheap thing prices. If you're trying to clear as much stock as possible be careful how you frame that, as people don't like to buy things that they think "you're getting rid of". That last one sounds weird but it's definitely a thing, low prices can deter people! At the start, dealers will come around and try to buy stock for their stalls, this can be a blessing if you want to move a lot of things but don't sell too cheap or sell the "crown jewels" that you need to attract buyers. Security: Keep your car locked as much as possible. Take extra care and don't rush with money. If buyers are rushing at the start unload in stages, discourage crowding around open car, even if it means delaying unpacking. Keep the float out of view of customers but where you can see it.

It could be more innocent, someone who hasn't yet reflected and absorbed the effect their actions have on the world. Without reaching that stage it's harder to understand some of the (my, probably your) objections to how LLMs are used. I've been through it, all of it, in the non-software world of pirate radio. I've shown the "wrong" people how to build transmitters, had them be a massive pain in the backside for years. I didn't know that they made so many people very happy with their crazy antics. He died some years ago. I went to his funeral. I have never seen so many people at a funeral. We almost ran out of standing room. I had to rethink my life a bit. I quit doing the illegal stuff back in the 90s when I was feeling terrible about unleashing "the secrets" to such a muppet. i'm now glad I made that mistake, even though he was undoubtedly an absolute nightmare for the regulatory authorities. Because of the love. I saw the love. From something algorithmic, a circuit, bits of wire and solder etc. A whole culture, lives changed.

@penguin86 All capacitors, the bulbous blobby ones are probably tantalum capacitors, the tubular one is a ceramic capacitor. Edit: Actually they all might be ceramic capacitors, I have just remembered that I have some pF value ceramic capacitors that look just like them

@futurebird Our current cats aren't overly bothered by food or the lack of it, previously our tortie had decided that the dining room table was "the table of feeding" and she'd sit on it looking very important until the hint was taken. One of our current cats leaves her toys at the bottom of the stairs or on the stairs if we're asleep when she wanted us to play with her, occasionally as a kitten she'd bring a noisy toy onto our bed. If we ever responded to the toy demands in the moment she would, of course, ignore the toy and flounce off…
