Today I am taking inspiration from this 1899 article, particularly the part about “using her fists in scientific fashion.”

I can’t stop thinking about the dedication on the first page of the book I just started reading.
I had the opportunity to stop by Alex Pretti’s memorial and pay my respects today. Nurses have been leaving stethoscopes. It hurt my heart.
Friendly reminder that ICE hasn’t left Minnesota.
A friend and I decided to go get our makeup professionally done because we suck at adult makeup in this the year of our lord 2026 and wanted to learn. And then we went to Bdubs where it was buy one get one free. And then we did the Mall of America rollercoasters (first time in 25 years…) And then we got cookie frosting sandwiches. I highly recommend emulating this evening.
He might be a little handsy, but it’s nevertheless such a nice change to spend Valentine’s Day with an emotionally available guy
A Minnesota yarn store is going viral for this. They’re hosting a “knit in” to make hats inspired by Norwegian resistance to nazi occupation. Since this has attracted country-wide attention, they’ll be making the pattern available online soon. More info here! https://www.instagram.com/needleandskein?igsh=aGQ0MnI3amhvaG5r
I found some footage of me making a Jay and Silent Bob reference to a bunch of Gen Z and young Millennials this morning.
Happy Valentine’s Day! I love this old valentine because the little girl is deeply clueless about how to work a spinning wheel, and if that’s not an allegory for my take on romance then I don’t know what is.
I’m fairly certain I proved the unified theory of physics this morning when my small container of almond butter popped open in my gym bag. It takes every force of nature to explain how one tablespoon coated literally everything in a 20 square foot radius.
In the book I’m reading (set in the 50s), a character has an oppressive husband who forces her to see an equally oppressive psychiatrist. She finally gets a divorce and uses the settlement to buy the doctor’s office out from under him and open an art gallery in it for women artists. My kind of petty
The dog named Nazgul, who snuck away and ran an Olympic course, is making my withered grinch heart grow three sizes.
In the dog’s defense, he was here first. In my defense, I bought the couch.
So we remain at a standoff.
3am dog thoughts:
“It looks like you’re having trouble sleeping! I’ll come over and snuggle. Oops, didn’t mean to step on your face. Ahh this is a nice snuggle. My ear itches though so I should take care of that quick. Is it dusty in here? Because *aaaahchu*!! Mmm how cozy… *very loud snore*”
To celebrate John Williams’ recent birthday, the classical radio station that’s part of Minnesota Public Radio has spun up a curated stream of all John Williams, all the time. It’s called Celebrate the Maestro and it’s great! And, of course, free! https://www.yourclassical.org/playlist/celebrate-the-maestro
I just finished a rewatch of Heated Rivalry. Since I knew what to expect, I’m now prepared to offer the following critical notes:
*Connor Storrie is clearly not a smoker in real life.
*Hudson Williams’ rowing and yoga form both suck.
That’s it. Those are the notes. It remains 8 out of 5 stars
Do I know anyone who has traveled to Antarctica? I’m considering booking a trip over new years and about all I know I learned from the (magnificent) Shackleton book. Clearly I’d like to avoid the itinerary detailed in that book.
I just learned about the acronym AWFUL (I avoid right-wing rage bait like it’s my job.) I have decided, similar to how I have adopted “spinster,” that I am embracing this. I’m in the market for a tshirt that says “I am a blue-haired AWFUL human.”

Guess which one my awkward ass felt compelled to employ tonight at “Galentine’s.”
A memory of a dream I had last night just hit me. I was in charge of playing the drums for Epica’s metaled out version of The Imperial March. As I don’t play the drums, this was a daunting prospect. If you are unfamiliar, the track (and whole album) is fantastic. https://music.apple.com/us/album/the-imperial-march-live-in-miskolc/1456969754?i=1456970019
