@ricci@discuss.systems yeah it’s hard, and I think this is an interesting edge case.
One of my perspectives is that this is within the bounds of what the corporation who runs the software is “free” to do with their own software.
I.e. the algorithms that program the route are (theoretically) a black box, and the company is free to change those algorithms as much as they want without ethics approval. By using the app you are agreeing to let them present you with a route.
As the driver, you are also (for the most part) free to ignore or modify the presented route.
But at the end of the day, it might come down to the specific wording of the regulation.

@bob_zim@infosec.exchange @bignose@social.chinwag.org @stilgherrian@eigenmagic.net that’s fair. A whole lot of use cases I haven’t considered/had knowledge of. My experience is mostly in end-user software in an environment that is only just starting to regulate the computer systems used.

@bignose@social.chinwag.org @bob_zim@infosec.exchange @stilgherrian@eigenmagic.net though it sounds like curl is pretty dang close! (To being bug/vulnerability-free, and ubiquitously used)
Also assumes that the verification/validation process is flawlessly designed and executed to test all positive cases and all possible negative cases, and I’m gonna hazard a guess that that’s happened only on a handful of systems in the history of the world.

@backupbear for the elevator one though: some elevators (maybe) have a function where if at least two buttons have been pressed, you can double press one to cancel that floor. Like, if you press 5 but realise you actually needed 6, press 6, then double press 5 and the lift won’t stop at 5.

@backupbear may you be stuck in traffic that’s moving too fast to stop, but too slow to take your foot fully off the clutch, and get cramp!

@adhd_coffee another one for me: I already know what you’re saying and where you’re going and you’re taking *forever* to say it! (Particularly with my dad, who I’m pretty sure also has ADHD 😅)

@MelissaBearTrix it also impacts my actions if I’m near other strangers. Particularly if they’re femme presenting and on their own in similar situations. I’ll often cross to the other side of the street, and try to make my presence known (e.g. footsteps audible), so I don’t surprise people, or make them feel cornered.

@MelissaBearTrix yeah. Usually more in specific situations, and usually at night: walking to my car, walking along the river, around people that seem to be behaving erratically.
In Adelaide there’s a memorial to George Duncan, a gay man who was murdered for being gay: beaten, thrown in the river Torrens, and drowned. And I think about that whenever I’m near the river.

@draken@masto.nyc if you want more info on this guy, the podcast Behind the Bastards did a 5-part collab with Hood politics about the “crack epidemic” in the US, which delves into the Iran-Contra thing, and covers Oliver North quite a bit!
