I wanted a more energy-efficient clothes dryer. Maybe solar- or wind-powered.
Pleased to say it didn't take more than a few weeks to realize the device I wanted is called a "clothesline."
Because of bugs and relentless pollen, I strung mine up inside, coincidentally solving "energy-efficient humidifier." Only downside is my jeans are crunchy.
Despite my giving her a pill twice a day and smearing ointment on her ears, and despite her feeling like crap, Aurora Kitty still claims my lap for comforting snuggles. I treasure this.
Went to a party with folks I haven’t seen in 15 years, found myself completely ill-equipped to summarize what I’m up to these days. I could summarize last week, but the last decade? I sounded very dull.
I kept people talking about themselves instead, which probably made them feel more valued, but my friends did want to know how I’m doing.
A few hours later, I had all kinds of interesting answers. So here’s a reminder to refresh your mental bio before your next party.
As a kid I was tormented by the daycare's insistence on serving us "pickled red beets." (Always the whole phrase, "pickled red beets," with the emphasis on the "red" for some reason.) I couldn't stand them.
As an adult I have to wonder, how did serving beets to a cafeteria full of four year olds not look like a crime scene?
I could find a new show to watch, or… I could just…
watch Firefly again.

I need to invent some daily ritual for Smidge Kitty because he is moping in FOMO over Aurora Kitty's pills-and-ointment sessions. I promise you're not missing out, buddy, but cat calculus is nuanced.
@cruftbox@theforkiverse.com I'm impressed by your bee keeping! It combines so many disciplines (building boxes, animal husbandry, creating a healthy environment for them, I don't even know what all). What prompted you to start, and what's something you were surprised to learn once you got into it?
