I love helping people learn to code. As a co-creator of SwiftUI, I also love building native apps for Apple's platforms. At Bitrig, we're developing new tools for making native app development more accessible and fun for everyone.

I first got hooked on coding as a kid, making games on my TI-83 calculator. It felt magical to build apps with just the computer in my pocket. Using Bitrig to build native apps right on my phone rekindles that same playfulness, but with so much more versatility, and it's only just the beginning 🙂

I'm also joining an incredibly talented team, including some of the same people I worked with on SwiftUI. And we're hiring! Check out our jobs page to learn more.

After more than 11 years, today is my last day at Apple.

It’s been a privilege to be able to say I’ve worked my dream job, helping create SwiftUI and getting to support an incredible team of engineers and friends.

I’m excited for what’s next for me (stay tuned!), but today I’m focused on how deeply grateful I am to everyone at Apple that I’ve worked with and learned from over the years. It’s a truly amazing place full of astoundingly talented but also genuinely wonderful people.

We have an incredible team, and it’s been a privilege to help support truly brilliant people doing amazing work on the frontiers of Apple’s development platform.

And I’ll be honest: this is a demanding role! We expect managers on our team to be deep in the technical details right alongside our engineers, while also helping coordinate with dozens of other teams throughout Apple. But for people who thrive at the boundary between people and technology, it’s hard to think of a more fulfilling role (and with a truly wonderful team!)

Big changes this year to SwiftUI’s concurrency-related API annotations!

These changes will especially help with using SwiftUI with the Swift 6 language mode and strict concurrency (but will also help in your Swift 5 codebases as well!).

We’ll continue to refine and optimize our APIs for Swift concurrency throughout the betas. Your feedback will be critical!
