@preservaAV@mastodon.social If your colleague is still stuck, it occurs to me that likely this is just a quirk in the UI. When you pick a user name, I believe the software shows you what your complete fediverse address will be — so for example mine is [at] richardgrant [at] mastodon [dot] social, though only part of that is the user name that I chose. So in that respect, I guess mastodon does impose a certain format, and it's a function of how the fediverse works as a network of separate, distributed servers.

I'm afraid I don't have much to contribute, as I'm not very active on pixelfed and don't specifically follow queer accounts there. You might try repeating your request with a number of lgbt-related hashtags, so as to attract more notice.

The internet is still good! Here is a music publisher’s website where you can download the *official bird recordings* played in performances of Einojuhani Rautavaara’s great “Cantus arcticus (Concerto for Birds and Orchestra)”. They are an integral part of the #music and this is how performers get the avian accompaniment exactly right. I just love this.
