We are delighted to host a screening of this film by Sasha Litvintseva and Beny Wagner in conjunction with Filmhuis Den Haag. The screening will be followed by a discussion and Q&A moderated by filmmaker and researcher Bo Wang.

The film interrogates digestion as the fundamental condition for being in the world, a process of physiological, psychological, spiritual, literary and political dimensions. Multiple storylines trace the poetics of incorporation as a matter of metamorphosis and decay, the philosophy of matter and imperial conquest, industrialisation and annihilation, poetry and parenting, love and citation.

The film was awarded the Jury Special Mention New: Vision Competition, CPH:DOX.

We are happy to announce the publication of a new zine emerging from the five-day Lorentz Workshop Unlocking the Imagination: Art-Science for Radical Transformation, held in January this year.

TWIG is a zine designed by Ekaterina Volkova that captures insights from the Lorentz workshop organized by Lisette van Beek (Lund University), Johannes Stripple (Lund University), Mark Westmoreland (Leiden University, ReCNTR), Josephine Chambers (Utrecht University) and Ekaterina Volkova (independent).

The What If Garden (TWIG) invites you on a journey into radical imagination. Take a walk. Be inspired. Wander, and let your imagination unfold in movement. Question what is—and what could be. We invite you to download the zine here : https://works.hcommons.org/records/jn9xc-9gh16,

Enjoy a stroll through The What If Garden!

Join us on 27 and 28 June, for a two-day symposium 𝘚𝘺𝘯𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘝𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯/𝘐𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘗𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳. The symposium features talks and discussions that explore the transformations induced by Artificial Intelligence (AI) within the interplay of power, knowledge and images. Includes talks by a number of artists participating in the Framer Framed exhibition 𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺? 𝘈𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘒𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘭𝘦𝘥𝘨𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘛𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘊𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘴.

𝘚𝘺𝘯𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘝𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯/𝘐𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘗𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 focuses on the unprecedented possibilities of AI in generating ‘synthetic vision’ (the ability to “see” algorithmically) and ‘synthetic image generation’ (the ability to create new images through prompts). These transformations affect three key dimensions of the image – ‘image-truth’, ‘image-evidence’ and ‘image-labour’.

𝘚𝘺𝘯𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘝𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯/𝘐𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘗𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 brings together scholars working with artistic or multimodal methods and artists whose work is approached from a research perspective.

▪️ Sign up for the symposium here: https://framerframed.nl/en/projecten/synthetic-vision-images-of-power-truth-evidence-labour-knowledge-in-the-age-of-ai/

𝘚𝘺𝘯𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘝𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯/𝘐𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘗𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 is co-convened by Francesco Ragazzi, Donatella della Ratta, Rocco Bellanova and Rebecca Stein.

Join us for the final event of the Young Academy Leiden (YAL) and Jong Universiteit Leiden (JUL)’s Spring of Art and Science!

In collaboration with LIACS Mediatechnology and ReCNTR, this exhibition aims to highlight works that employ multimodal approaches which challenge conventional notions of knowledge production and artist expression.

The exhibition provides an opportunity to explore examples of multimodality in practice and a chance to interact with artists and researchers at Leiden university working at this intersection.
