@foldworks@mathstodon.xyz Thanks for the pointer! I have the tricky extra requirement, that the surfaces I want to unfold, need to unfold into the Poincaré disc. For example the unfolded great dodecahedron looks like the image below and the edges marked with A, B, C and D, would fold together.

@nanma80@mathstodon.xyz That is interesting, even the thought that there are this many dodecahedral nets is totally counterintuitive to me. In regards to the difference between great dodecahedron and great icosahedron, I would imagine, that it has something to do with the prior being of genus 4 and the latter of genus 0. Thus, I assume, the great dodecahedron having to be "cut" open, when transforming from the dodecahedron and the great icosahedron is merely "twisted" into place.

@nanma80@mathstodon.xyz these animations are really nice! How do you do the morphing animation? Manually or do you have an Algorithm that is able to extrapolate the motion paths of the vertices.
