@joenepraat@todon.nl@pixelfed.social Fun fact: the fact that the Netherlands doesn't celebrate Labour Day isn't even because King's Day is in April. Labour Day in the Netherlands was abolished by the German occupation in 1940, and wasn't reinstated after the liberation in 1945. Queens Day back then however was on 31 August, and only moved to April when Juliana took the throne in 1948 (effectively in 1949 since Wilhelmina abdicated after Juliana's birthday)

For the record: this wasn't my fault. 😄 This should never ever be done: an Arriva GTW accidentally coupled with an NS VIRM. The VIRM doesn't mind, but the GTW can't handle the 110 volts that's in the electric box of a VIRM coupling.

@AskPippa@c.im@pixelfed.social yes but what Americans call trolleys or streetcars are actually trams, not trains, and sadly most trams are not equipped with automatic train control or anything similar that stops them from passing a signal at danger

@joenepraat@todon.nl@pixelfed.social Wat hebben die vrijwilligers allemaal gedaan dan? Unpopular opinion, maar overduidelijk niet genoeg (yup, shoot me). Zoals ik je afgelopen zondag al zei en hierboven nog een keer: ik heb nergens posters zien hangen, alleen rondom het Neude een paar stickers. Posters plakken was toch wel het minste wat gedaan had moeten worden. Daar is ook geen groot budget voor nodig, lijkt me. Die zichtbaarheid moet de volgende keer echt veel beter.

Jeuj, kritiek! Ik wil echt wel even kwijt dat Bij1 erg afwezig was bij de campagne dit keer. Ik zal morgen waarschijnlijk wel Bij1 stemmen, maar ik heb dit keer geregeld overwogen om toch maar PvdD te stemmen omdat Bij1 nagenoeg onzichtbaar is geweest. Ik heb rondom het Neude in Utrecht wel wat stickers gezien, maar voor de rest nergens ook maar iets van Bij1 gezien, terwijl ik voor werk in best veel steden kom. Ik heb hier op de Fediverse wel wat voorbij zien komen, maar dat is natuurlijk preken voor eigen parochie, daar bereik je geen mensen mee die je nog moet overhalen om op Bij1 te stemmen. Op veel plekken zag ik enorme posters van de FvD, waar waren die van Bij1? Voordat Simons de kamer in kwam was Bij1 geregeld in het nieuws, waarom nu niet? Het nieuws komt niet vanzelf naar je toe, waarom is er geen stennis geschopt? Ik stem morgen waarschijnlijk wel weer Bij1 maar ik vermoed dat er geen zetel door komt, en ik hoop maar dat er niet daardoor een restzetel naar een partij gaat waar ik echt niet achter sta. En ik hoop dat bij de volgende verkiezingen er echt veel meer wordt gedaan om meer in beeld te komen. Begin vast met geld opzij zetten om bushokjes te huren. Ga tot die tijd naar elk protest en lever ook sprekers. Wees veel zichtbaarder, juist ook in het straatbeeld.
