I somehow figured out how to get basic emacs navigation keybindings working globally on my old work M1. I can’t figure out how to replicate it on the new M5… 😭

Camp Muir, Mount Rainier National Park. 8 mi, 4,640 ft (again). #PNW #hiking #backcountry #skiing
The 2024 trip was in late July. Went in late May this time for more snow coverage.
We were able to skin pretty much the whole way up except for the first 0.3 miles, over Panorama Point, and across Pebble Creek. Skied pretty much the same amount down.
Conditions were considerably better this time. There was even a tiny bit of fresh snow that had been falling during the ascent!
Person A: “Have you guys had time to look into X?”
Person B: “No. My entire team has either been drafted, cut, or left the company.”

Welp, this rolled out. On the positive side, macOS requires manual approval for shit this invasive to work and you can just… not approve it… for now. sudo killall …; sudo rm -rf … until chef reinstalls it. Guess I’ll move to my Fedora ThinkPad that won’t sleep properly soon. Efficiency!

To clarify: No, I was not laid off… yet. The company just acknowledged an upcoming layoff that had leaked a couple of weeks ago. I’m fairly certain the leaks are intentional, at this point.

Not sure how this supposed to work for people working with private or confidential information. There is supposedly a blocklist on the application or URL level but it must not be very sophisticated because it can’t tell work gmail from personal gmail. Basically just asking for a privacy sev.
My employer just announced recording screens, keystrokes, and mouse movements for AI training. This is going to go amazingly well, I’m sure.
The number of Flock cameras I have seen around the bay since Friday is actually pretty astounding.
Avis gave me a CX-50 this time. I think I’ll have to seriously consider the hybrid version to replace my CX-5… as long as they don’t go full touch screen like the current CX-5.
