@Kitchi@mastodon.social Though it is about school shootings in the US, the use of a WWII vet also puts in my head Akira Kurosawa's Rhapsody in August (about the Nagasaki bombing) There is one scene, at a memorial. It is a twisted and melted jungle gym with a plaque that has only the date and time: 11:02 A.M., August 9, 1945 And then you realize what those shadows on the ground are. It is so heartbreaking. I don't understand how we can't do better.

@Kitchi@mastodon.social This image causes a shiver on my back. The idiocy of it. Especially the dead at the school. Resistance to evil at least serves a purpose a better life for all those who remain.

@Kitchi@mastodon.social f’n wrong!

@Kitchi@mastodon.social That's a powerful cartoon. Many of us have visually impaired followers and don't boost images that lack alt text because we don't want to inconvenience them. Maybe you could consider adding an image description to this?

@Kitchi@mastodon.social A drawing of an old man and a young boy looking at a cemetery of war dead The old man says "I lost my brothers on Omaha beach in '44. You?" The young boy replies, "At school, second period."

@Kitchi@mastodon.social damn this is heartbreaking. Thanks for posting.

@Kitchi@mastodon.social A friendly FYI, you may reach a larger audience if you use content warnings on posts about gun violence & alt-text on your images. I'd be happy to boost this if it were edited/redrafted with alt-text & a CW.

@Kitchi@mastodon.social liking because it really hits home hard.

@Kitchi@mastodon.social Very telling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! @pinhman@mstdn.ca
