Utrecht is made out of cobblestones, character, and history. But not necessarily in that order.
The Dutch really seem to enjoy the outdoors. Whenever the sun peeked out a little, all the terrasje's would be a' pakken.
The "gracht" near us had a little stair step, and in the evening there would be a small crowd sitting on the stairs as the sun set.
Some people think that climate determines how enjoyable a place is. But I'm here to say that that is simply not true.
