This always reminds me of the naming of menstruation after its period of a month (what a coincidence!) without asking why we chose to cut up the year in portions of roughly 30 days at all.

But why ask, as we can't think of any monthly real-life events of significance, our ancestors must necessarily have constructed a blatantly out-of-sync lunar deity to help them navigate through time ...
