The solution to all of this IMO is *not* just throwing away all other ethical concerns in favour of accessibility at any cost, and bankrolling Google while they develop software for the US dept' of war.

IMO the solution is targeted redirection funds from corps to FLOSS improvement/independent development.

With the main governing principle 'if public funds were received, then the produced source must be open.'
