And that’s before we get to the bleak, bleak, BLEAK picture of employment for Black gender minorities in the U.S. Black cis women ended 2025 with an unemployment rate of 7.5%, and while I haven’t been able to track down current numbers for Black trans folks of any gender, past reports have Black trans folks at twice the unemployment rate of Black cis folks, more likely to live in poverty than Black cis folks, and generally experiencing higher rates of transphobia than non-Black trans people*. So at this point I think it makes more sense for me to figure out my own ~thing~ than to chase a certain kind of employment in this current fascistic atmosphere.
