We’re deeply acculturated to stories about the hero who saves the day. We learn to see as normal a hierarchy in which some characters are foregrounded while everyone else is expendable supporting cast.

Look where this mindset has got us.

Thich Nath Hanh famously said, ‘the next Buddha will be the sangha’. That’s us, folks. What will support our survival is not some miraculous hero but people working together - with goodwill, respecting our differences & never expecting anyone to be perfect - to care for ourselves & others.

I like the idea of a nanasphere. The concept is loose, its manifestation is various & anyone can join. It’s not about knowing answers or being right. It’s about choosing kindness, doing what we can, where we are right now. Whatever that looks like.

Baby steps.
