@sn unfortunately, industrial energy is not as interchangeable as physics energy. There’s a lot of infrastructure that depends on fuel and can’t be replaced with electricity.

Transportation requires massive investment to switch to electricity.

A lot of chemistry runs on oil processing byproducts or oil itself and can not switch away at all. For instance we’ve got so much cheap plastic because it’s a byproduct. If we stop pumping oil for fuel plastic will become extremely expensive. It might be beneficial in the long run (better recycling, use of other better materials) but it would require a global production chain reshaping. It can’t be done in months.
