The embedded Linux team at ADI working on DSP SoCs has an open position. It is a great opportunity to make mainline contributions and work with the community. Experience in aarch64 SoC mainlining, audio DSP, OpenAMP, A2B, or AVB would be a big plus.

My talk about community supported binary boot chains was accepted to be part of SUSECON on April 23 in Prague 🥳

@linuxaudiodevelopment@mstdn.social No problem, I work at Analog Devices on Linux support across the company including on an SoC with audio DSP cores and ARM cores that can run Linux. For example, https://neuraldsp.com uses our chips.

@linuxaudiodevelopment@mstdn.social thanks for the reply! The docs are only a few weeks old and will grow a lot this year.

  • DSP engineers who would be interested in programming the DSP cores and helping maintain the code. Is there already open source DSP code we can leverage?
  • Ideal user space setup including preferred distro
  • Help identify a community focused use case and define hardware

@linuxaudiodevelopment@mstdn.social I work at Analog Devices, Inc., on a team improving Linux support across the company. My current main focus is our DSP portfolio, which will be getting a major upgrade this year. I'm looking for folks in the audio community who would be interested in trying out our platforms. We have weekly open office hours (see below). I'm also hoping to bring fresh hardware to LAC this year.

For the first time in my career I'm doing DDR initialization and eventually will add runtime support. Although I already had a basic understanding of DDR initialization and that it is highly vendor specific, I don't know of any high level summary of all the implementations so I threw something together with Claude (mileage may vary):

Threw together a map for embedded adjacent companies and communities in (and around) Munich. Github PRs and Issues welcome!

@baylibre@fosstodon.org has just released one of my favorite development tools as open hardware on Github! I use mine to control power, UART and the boot mode, as well as integrated into Labgrid.

See it in use in Trevor's talk at OSS last year:

@hughsie Congrats! That is a big step forward. Awesome to see how much LVFS/fwupd have grown over the years. Hopefully the start of many more contributions!

I gave my first public presentation ever, titled "How you boot matters", at the inaugural Munich Embedded 2025. Maybe when I retire I'll write a tome on the topic, but for now here are 25 minutes. 😄

`ldr` is a tool to generate boot streams for ADI ADSP SoCs that was extracted from an internal SDK, dropped on Github and ignored for several years.

Buildroot integration should be applied soon[1] and basic DEB/RPM packages are now available from the ADI packge repo.[2] Track our progress mainlining kernel and U-Boot support through our public Github Project.[3] Public office hours coming soon!

"When people think about traveling to the past, they do it with this wild sense of self-importance. Like, 'gosh, I better not step on that flower or my grandfather will never be born.' But in the present we mow our lawns and poison ants and skip parties and miss birthdays all the time. We never think about the effects of that stuff." Roya was working herself up. "Nobody thinks of now as the future past."
