@stephenwhq@mastodon.social There's a certain truth that the most commercially successful authors tend to stick to a particular niche. It's rare to have someone like Gaiman or Adrian Tchaikovsky who write more widely. But unless you're aiming for that single subgenre brand, I would go for a wider collection.

@stephenwhq@mastodon.social I prefer variety, and that's what I did for my short story collection. I don't really want to read a whole bunch of similar stories. The key is getting the balance and placement of the stories right, IMO.
