@slashdottir@mastodon.online : Exactly. We give corporations too much credit often thinking that they ultimately make cunning decisions to efficiently maximize profit. After all, that is the promise of capitalism. Anyone who works in the corporate world long knows that personal politics, ego, and shear stupidity are far bigger factors resulting in most decisions really being far from optimal for the corporation. Companies beat competors by sucking slightly less.
Anyone who has worked with outsourced labor long knows that companies will literally pay more to deliver work that direct hires have to redo simply for the appearance of "agility." That has gone on for decades so the feedback loop won't really fix this. Capitalism is massively inefficient.
