The Avatar Shark 250 was a short-lived removeable data storage format from the late '90s. Using a 2.5-inch hard disk platter in a cartridge (known as a HARDiskette) and offering 250 MB of storage, it was designed to be very compact and mobile. It only lasted a year before Avatar Peripherals declared bankrupcy.

This January marks 20 years (!) since I started collecting examples of media for my Museum of Obsolete Media project back in 2006.
I thought I'd end up collecting around 50 items but I'm now up to 875 different formats catalogued on the Museum website, with over 1,200 items in the collection and over 3,100 photographs.
Over the years I've also been very fortunate to have had over 340 items donated.

The SQ Quadraphonic version of Tubular Bells came a with sticker on the front cover that said 'For people with four ears'. The rear cover said 'Store in four dry places'.
