I'm less thrilled about it being written in a garbage collected language and there are some tradeoffs that are made there

Wanna speak more about this? Seems that unless you’re going to use a language with strong memory-safety guarantees (Rust), a GC’d language will be less prone to the classic C-style bugs (overflows, use-after-free, etc).
