My department is hiring a front-end programmer! It's on a sibling team to mine, but I know the managers and they're all great. The web team does a mix of work developing a shared platform and providing consulting services.

@hareldan yeah, I agree with all of those points. Honestly I am surprised it's still here. They announced Maps Engine at the same time as Earth Engine, but shut it down a few years later. We spent the decade cautiously using Earth Engine, thinking it could disappear at any time.

@hareldan what's the Earth Engine restructuring you're referring to? I know about them requiring the use of Projects, but actually saw that as their attempt to make the service profitable (which, IMO, was better than them shutting it down just because they're Google).
I think I'd also disagree with that conclusion. Earth Engine was high code, IMO, but low-data management, and I think these companies showed a path to enough people who want it. With STAC + Dask, it's much easier to deploy.
