And Bluesky is glad to be rid of him. ATProto was established to work around the weaknesses of ActivityPub. For example, poor ability to migrate and the ability of a spiteful or incompetent instance owner to completely F* you over. That said, the two could at some point be bridged. Bluesky would then look like a single Masto instance.

@randomwalker "OpenAI isn't" We need to happen to LLMs what happened to generative image AIs: an entity like Stability to come along and release (generally) license-unhindered weights to the public for good models that can run on consumer-grade GPUs. We're "kinda" there with LLMs, in that LLaMA weights were released. Though the license is kind of burdensome, and support to make something ChatGPT-ish out of it is still being hacked together. (BTW, your substack name is a turnoff to discussion)

At least on #Birdsite, if someone posts a correction, it tends to get lots of likes and rises to the top. But here it's just "whoever posts first goes at the top, everyone else gets buried at the bottom where nobody sees it" :(

For decades it was seen that building a computer was the "real" work and programming / maintaining it just an afterthought, so they assigned the latter to women - who designed some of the most fundamental programming concepts today. But at formal events they were still expected to serve drinks and be eye candy for the men, and called "refrigerator ladies" (aka appliance models). Read their histories, it's neat!

@nebkor @ifilljustice People overcomplicate #ElonMusk and try to insert conspiracies everywhere. He's an #Aspie who, as someone who's good at technical things (yes, legitimately), also developed a bad case of #DunningKruger, and being attacked by the left endlessly over the years helped give the #AltRight his ear and push him down the conspiracy theory rabbit hole. He now legitimately believes that there's giant plots to suppress truth and he's the heroic freedom fighter resisting them.
