However, the anthropological framework the author is leaning on, is methodologically questionable. To frame human societies in thermodynamic concepts is reductionist, as important sociological and psychological aspects are blanked out.

It's just there, and it's defended by a ruling minority using all their influence and money to keep it upright (let aside the "automatic subject" which capitalism inherently constitutes). "We" (the majority) had to choose something else to dismiss capitalism. However, what you frame as "we" is an abstraction. What really exists is only myriads of oppressed individuals fighting day by day for a bearable livelihood within this mess of a world.

I agree with most of your points and wonder how you manage to have time and a peaceful place to engage in theoretical considerations. I'm with you doubting the expectable constitution of a future state Palestine. And i agree that mutual aid and commoning is more important than outlining scenarios. It's pure desperation to stop these lunatics from continuing their megalomaninac blood trail.

I'm talking about a real occupation by allied international forces and the subsequent establishment of a democratic, anti-zionist order with equal rights for all and the right to return for all expelled Palestinians. Before Oct. 7, Palestinian resistance would have had a chance to succeed, if support for the Zionazis had been ended, but not now, as resistance is battered. @aral

@gentle_vague Of course, it's theoretical and not a realistic scenario in the foreseeable future. But, imo, it's the ONLY possibility for peace in the M.E. Presumably, a major part of the hard-nosed Zionists (and esp. the settlers) would leave voluntarily, because they are racists and can't live side by side with equally righted Palestinians. And the reconstitution of the new polity would have to be controlled for a long time by international peace forces. @aral

It's certainly an important and significant relation which is pointed out here. But this is only one side of the medal. The other side is that (particularly young) people are dragged away from these public spaces by individual digital media consumption provided by powerful moguls using seductive and addictive offers and algorithms to capture people's attention and lifetimes.

@aral This suggests that, analogous to the de-nazification in Germany after WW2, a comprehensive de-zionisation of Israeli society was necessary. However, like in Germany, this can only succeed after a complete defeat of the Israeli army and state apparatus. The problem is that there is no coalition of allied forces in sight who are willing to bring this about.

@axbom Even if politicians understand they will continue to support AI, because (a) it is the last resort to save capitalism and (b) after the collapse of liberal capitalism the elites controlling AI will be able to install a totalitarian system using AI to control the people (see Big Brother, Brazil, etc). And for many, even liberal, politicians such a scenario is regarded preferable to "anarchy" or "chaos".

Nur weil die Herrschenden dir einen Pass gegeben haben, denkst du, dass alle, die den gleichen Pass bekommen haben, ein "wir" oder gar eine Gesellschaft konstituieren. Für alle, die im kapitalistischen Weltsystem leben (und das sind wirklich fast alle Menschen), gibt es nur noch eine Gesellschaft, und die ist global. (Siehe auch Beitrag von @wauz)
