@kravietz@agora.echelon.pl @couscous@mamot.fr @aral@mastodon.ar.al @element@mastodon.matrix.org @ahltorp@mastodon.nu I see it that opponents view it as "blood money" that poisons the project, and supporters see it as "the police/military have these fuckloads of money, might as well have them go to some commons" now, is "tapping MIC budgets for a good cause" enough to outweigh "selling your services to the oppressor"? two things can be true at once, and there's an (at least perceived) risk of the project getting too chummy with the violence-dispensing institutions

@xChaos @cstross @angusm going further along this logic, if this is to be the *enshittified* singularity, it'd be obscured by all the slop and an observer would need to first cross the (wall-to-wall) excrement horizon to be able to see the slopularity itself: the behind-the-scenes torment nexus of surveillance ad networks finally going mad from consuming its own shit like an intelligence born from a soup consisting exclusively of misfolded proteins (with non-euclidean click-trough metrics)
