I have not written any code or reviewed any substantial code since July 8th. These past 9 days are probably the longest strech that has happended since I had a neurologically challenging accident in 2019 that stopped me from using any electronic devices.
To be honest: I do not miss it; not even a bit. This somewhat is scary as it calls to question how I have been spending my time the last few years. Maybe it is time for a changes. AI already seems to lower the value of being able to code well.

@yossarian VulDB is probably doing much more harm than good. They seem to have no care regarding security oder threat models and from my POV they just encourage bad actors hunting for unreasonable CVE‘s

@yossarian my personal opinion: VulDB should be shunt from the security world. A mail from them feels like a hostage negotiation.

Iot soldering station with web interface and withou temperature display: https://kurtzersa.de/produkte/elektronikfertigung/loetwerkzeuge/loet-entloetstationen/i-con-trace
We live in wild times.
I am currently researching #ipc-cfx an iot standard for event communication in electronics manufacturing and this hand soldering station seems to be on the qualified product list.

@whitequark@social.treehouse.systems @gwenthefops@transfem.social @tisba@ruby.social that seems like a very unkind thing to say without knowing anything about me.
But matches with the stuff others have started asserting about me from 1 sentence here. I see non-conformance is not wanted in your follower ship.

@whitequark@social.treehouse.systems @gwenthefops@transfem.social @tisba@ruby.social we have tried to onboard ppl to help triage; no one seems to want to help. At one point we had over 200 issues that were awaiting feedback; it was not possible to determine which bug was real and which was a deployment problem/already solved.
If you have soltutions that are better I am all ears. Going through alle issues every few weeks and nagging for feedback took hours and was deeply demoralizing.

@whitequark@social.treehouse.systems @gwenthefops@transfem.social @tisba@ruby.social I really do not see how a stale bot is an insult.
The example posted is an unfortunate case; at most after the second message / reaction cycle someone should deactivate the bot for that issue.
The cases that I try to solve are like this one: https://github.com/inventree/InvenTree/issues/9998 there is a question back and then just silence from OP. I spend 20-30 hrs a week co-maintaining that project for 5 years now.

@gwenthefops@transfem.social @tisba@ruby.social @whitequark@social.treehouse.systems that depends on your view of what is “owed” ppl that use software that was published for free.
I noticed the last few years that more and more users seem to just snipe 3 half baked ideas into feature requests and fck off to never be seen again or answer any questions. If an issue has no one assigned to be responsible and no movement the bot closes it after 30 days. Anyone mad about it can get them self assigned

@bagder@mastodon.social I have seen this too in a project; the formatting seems like the old AI slop reports but the content is accurate and good.
There has to be some new optimized model / tool though - we often get the same finding reported multiple times within a week.

@andrewnez@mastodon.social the sugggestion regarding fork visibility is interesting. I try to add full upstream issue links to my forks. This seems to add timeline events in the upstream issue but it somewhat hard to discover in longer running issues.

@vladh@merveilles.town while I like the idea of a scale: choosing by nationality is very short sighted in my view. Ownership and national localities are fleeting nowadays. Switching out your tech constantly sounds like a good waist of resources.

@andrewnez@mastodon.social while I personally find these funny; could you please put a satire tag/ banner / callout at the top of the page?
Your blogs RSS feed is on my recommended reading list for Juniors and I now have gotten 2 questions if I meant to link it as people think this is a satire project.
I really appreciate your work on making the package management ecosystem better.

@miketheman thank you for the link; I have been looking into adding “trusted publishing” as defined by the WG to a primarily self hosted platform and this will the final puzzle piece to make that reasonable for the deployment scenario.
Thank you for your effort and good luck for the work ahead!

@miketheman @pypi Not a Gitlab user, just running a small gitea instance.
Is there an issue, blog or PR I could follow to read more about your approach once it is published?
