I tried. I really tried, I don't understand how can anyone take any joy or pride in writing plain English and then acting as a reviewer. It's pitiful, it's a miserable experience.
(also the constant back and forth and hand holding is just too much hassle)

That's gatekeeping?
I saw someone (pretty sure it's not a bot), saying "anti AI" (always big quotes on this one but I'm just quoting) developers are just salty and gatekeeping. Gatekeeping? What an absurd take. We are one of the most open engineering specialty, there is an over abundance of material to learn by yourself and enter the field, from the lowest levels to the highest one.
How is that gatekeeping?
Nah what we don't want is people producing literally millions of code every day without an ounce ... 1/2

@hyeyoo@social.kernel.org The thing is while I've been thinking rationally about this, I've a feeling a large part of our peers haven't. My take is that the tech is "good enough" (see latest claude etc), that people will keep hyping it just enough that it will justify printing more money for it.
In the long run will we see the harsh reality of this (hard to fix bugs etc)? Sure! Will it be too late ? Pretty sure that's also a yes.
Anyway sorry my reasoning is a bit all over the place, it's just confusing times

@hyeyoo@social.kernel.org I wish I felt the excitement. I mostly feel disgust at the tech, and I do worry even though I don't think it'll succeed because the tech is great (it'll succeed because money).
And given all the excitement around I have to also question my sanity :)
I can't wait for either the bubble to burst or the machine taking over. This inbetween is such a sad pathetic state.

The world is wild.
