@holgi@chaos.social I also know people in the area of Chaclacayo, Lima, who are always searching for private German lessons, though that would probably be more something to supplement an income than a main source of income. Depending on what his minimum wage expectationa are... here in the region of Oxapampa you can both find quite a few Germans as well as work for German teachers. Feel free to write to me in private if there is anything I could help with.

@holgi@chaos.social there are german schools, I don't really recommend the "colegio Beata Imelda" but they basically always search for german speaking tachers. How good is his spanish? What are his qualifications and whats his disposition to move within Peru? My wife works at a peruvian Waldorf school that has connections to switzerland and I'm not sure if they filled their vacancies yet but until recently they were searching for German teachers. This would be near Oxapampa.

@gwynnion@mastodon.social in some applications I sometimes spend hours just to condense 12 lines of code into 7 and reduce server requests to speed up something. The amount of lines means nothing if its pure slop. Sure you get more features faster but it will be unmaintainable. If somehow there were no environmental consequences etc., I could see a reason for AI code but even than it would be quite limited. And an AI trained on existing code will at best write average code.

If I can and do walk to the park, to the café, to the small shop, to the bakery, so will my neighbours, I will meet and make connections with the people around me and learn to trust most of them. In a car centric city I take the car to a mega mall, a fitniss chain or a coffee chain on different ends of the city, most people I see, I'll never see again.

@afewbugs@social.coop @maxleibman@beige.party i think one of the most important and underrated tools (aside from our whole economic model) is city planning, small businesses and places. If you "feel" like you're in a cozy little community of similarly weird people, if I see our neighbourhood café as a cozy place run by someone I know, if I buy locally in a small shop where you great the people because you know them, a lot changes. And at least some of this can be achieved by city planning.

In the rural area of Germany where I'm from it's still pretty good. But my best experience was in villages in the andean mountains, not connected by road. Have never seen more trust or honesty. As a bonus and some sneaky propaganda for the peruvian mountain jungle, a photo of our restaurant: (nice national park in walking distance)

@afewbugs@social.coop @maxleibman@beige.party come to Peru, I invite you to the nice little restaurant of my mother in law where we still sell the coffee at 3 Soles (ca.0,75€) black or 4 Soles (1€) with milk. Even locals told us to raise the prices. Ingredients both coffee and milk are local (as in grown amd processed all within 20min drive from here) and we still earn money on it. It's in the #selvacentral #huancabamba #oxapampa #peru the restaurant is called chicharonería shayapeña xD

@statsguy@mas.to I want media to focus more on the "leaving them to drown" and on the illegallity of the war itself. When you are in a war, you can sink enemy warships unarmed or not and you don't even need to ask wether they're armed. It is a ship build to fire at enemies. But even in war you very explicitly can't let the sailors just drown.

A part from low usr base, as much as I want to use good apps, they're not worth much if I can't message who I want to message...
