Oh dear. The suns coming up.

But England have won. Hurrah.

Took me back to what my dad told me about the world Cup 1986 when I was born. My dad was warching Belgium take on mm.

Mexico won that game.

Got a UV activated wristband. It goes from white to purple.

A great way to show the kids it's sunny enough for sun cream.

I love having ssh keys in 1Password, until I want to push or pull from a repo and it's ssh agent doesn't prompt for my auth. Then I'm stuck as if I've no repo access at all.

@webology@mastodon.social maybe this conf env module needs it's own forum post to drum up some support. Easier to implement and the fact every man & his dog has a third party package to do this tells us it's well used by many.

@webology@mastodon.social I think the conf module would define the data classes for the "settings groups". Then devs import these into their settings to setup their projects. I do love env vars. django.conf.env could read from the env, env files, parse variables, then settings might look more like; ALLOWED_HOSTS = env.list('ALLOWED_HOSTS', default=['localhost']) DATABASES = { 'default': env.db('DATABASE_URL', default='sqlite:///db.sqlite3') } With potential for querystring mapping db options.

It feels like years since the django roadmap session where declarative “Settings Objects” were brought up.

I said I'd take a look into that, naively thinking life would allow me some time. But here we are. I may finally have thought enough about it for a forum post 🤔

Maybe the only thing I miss about twitter is the local connection to information.

Recently I saw takeaway curry delivered in proper insulated boxes. I was impressed. We rarely order takeaway, but I'd order from there based on thay level of detail in their delivery.

And with the way that local network of people worked, I'd have found out what business is was.

It's about a decade since I used to do the elite timing at the London Marathon finish. Back then it would usually be Eliud Kipchoge coming first around 2:03-2:04

I'm a bit out of touch these days, but there was always the talk of "will anyone ever break the 2 hour marathon".

Todays race was won in 1:59:30 by Sabastian Sawe. That's rapid!

I saw a package published from work by Kraken tech (I think) which gave more control over database transactions.

Has anybody else seen this? I'd love to find a link to the repo again. I was going to share it and now can't recall the name 🤦‍♂️

@pauleveritt @django @judy2k I think I cracked it. Added a docker compose run configuration and there you don't have to specify a service! I was defaulting to the old days where I would add a compose interpreter and specify the python container. Those projects would run django templates and not use nginx locally. I'll have to tweak things a bit still I think but I've got a running dev stack through pycharm! Don't think debug was available though and that's the best feature!

@pauleveritt @django @judy2k Think I see the issue now - I need `compose up` without the specific target service that pycharm adds. From the bash script, we start with `docker compose --profile up` and it brings up nginx, react and python. Pycharm targets runserver, my nginx service depends on my runserver and react services, so I can't depend on it from nginx. https://youtu.be/320K2ULPq6s

@pauleveritt @django @judy2k when I last tried it I felt like there was an abstraction layer between the UI and what docker was doing that left me unsure if things were running. From my usual terminal commands I get container output and can see things ready. I'll see if I can record something to shed some light on things 👍

@pauleveritt @django sounds great, I'll keep an eye out! I need to search for some support/videos about run configs I think. I've got a project where dev is done in docker, via a bash script to build, run and do things like migrations and tests within the containers. Junie tried to help write some configs for me, but it's not been a success yet.
