@nixCraft@mastodon.social Programming with a compiler feels more and more like taking photographs with a film camera. Except that while you can raise good professional photographers by using a digital camera, raising good developers by using AI is a much bigger challenge :-)

@nixCraft@mastodon.social I don't think that the main problem is hallucinations. Maybe now it's not able to do your job, but it will get better and it's already used by experienced developers to replace junior engineers in many companies. And this is the problem: if we don't grow a generation of junior engineers (capable of coding without AI), there will be no experienced engineers tomorrow, so no one will be able to use AI efficiently.

@mjg59@nondeterministic.computer The problem is the interpretation: "We are not killing people, we are eliminating terrorists!", "We are executing a death penalty lawfully declared by a jury", and so on. The interpretation becomes even more troublesome if you replace that sentence with "You may not use this software to oppress people".
