I've mentioned our house several times before. Today I thought I'd share a detail that some Heathen bros might appreciate.
Most of the back half of our property is covered in a brick driveway and courtyard. Maybe 1300 to 1500 sq ft. Roughly in the center is an open circle, and in that circle is a an amazing Linden tree. It, like many other things here, was sort of neglected. But now it looks great.
As is fitting for a Linden, it shades and protects our courtyard and allows us to comfortably enjoy sitting outside all summer long.

We'll still see another wave of college closings in the next few years.
I was taught that everyone needed college. Then I worked in higher ed and saw that most people don't. College is a scam to people from their money and drive them into perpetual debt.

TBH, the zoomers I know IRL aren't sniveling little bitches. They are about average in work ethic and ability. I've helped several with questions they had about how shit works.

Tonight we had roasted potato wedges with sliced onion and whole garlic cloves paired with grilled pork chops coated with Italian herbs. Also some fresh baked oat bread.
Edit: also roasted asparagus, how could I forget?
Très bien!
And of course I used the one true condiment on the potatoes (ketchup, duh).
And grape jelly was perfect on the bread.

Dude, the number of 28 year old E4s in the Army is probably less than 100. The number of those that are CPLs is probably less than half that.
This also ignores that it was DEVGRU that did the rescue. And PJs, so the support would be Air Force. Guess what service doesn't have CPLs?

Today we said goodbye to one of our oldest and dearest friends. Yes, I mean one of our cats. He was, we think, 24 or 25 years old. Here's a picture of him from back in 2011.
We got him when he was abandoned by his family and ended up at our farm. He was pretty wild, but eventually we got him to settle in.
When I went back into uniform he went with us, travelling all over the country until I retired. He got to live the last couple years in a big old house with huge windows and lots of squirrels and birds to look at outside.
Today we took him to a more advanced vet clinic to see about some masses in his abdomen. Turned out that he was worse than we thought, so we let him go.
I was with him in the end, and he stayed happy while he took his last sleep.
He was a good boy.

Yeah, I've watched a few. I also need to try and stabilize my great-great-grandfathers skudsmaalsbog. It's very fragile
Several of the old books I've rescued are not in great shape. Which is why I am able to get them cheap.
Just read (and downloaded) the Dartmouth library book restoration guide and bought a starter set of tools and supplies for repairing books. Nothing fancy right now - no rebinding or anything that advanced. Going to fix some tears and some loose covers and see how that goes
