@azonenberg@ioc.exchange @gsuberland@chaos.social @whitequark@social.treehouse.systems well its build flow for the platform exists outside of CubeMX and is therefore at least moderately likely to actually work

@gsuberland@chaos.social @whitequark@social.treehouse.systems @azonenberg@ioc.exchange i remember uboot being very easy to bring up so you could just chainload your OS unless you need fast boot

@gsuberland@chaos.social @whitequark@social.treehouse.systems @azonenberg@ioc.exchange do you have optee enabled? I think it might be on by default, it was for the MP2 (its not actually necessary)

It took me an absurd amount of time to untangle what the intended bootflow is from these docs for the MP2

@gsuberland@chaos.social @whitequark@social.treehouse.systems for MP2 (although I think MP1 is very similar), the bootrom loads a binary from QSPI flash or EMMC.
(I think @azonenberg@ioc.exchange wrote something to stuff the appropriate headers from an elf file onto a raw binary)
From there the canonical bootflow is to load BL31 from that binary into SRAM which performs basic platform setup, loads the DRAM training blob into the ARC CPU and then jumps to the user code section

You may not like it but all your fancy semiconductors are made by machines controlled by computers that look like this

If you haven't been paying attention to ice you probably don't realize that the ice in my glass has recently undergone what I like to call a phase change
I expect that within the next 1-2 fiscal quarters it will have turned into a rapidly expanding ball of plasma

It's not my top priority, but the fact that there's an unclear number of members of Congress who are medically brain dead at any given time is probably something we should deal with at some point

i think i can say that Proton/NT is now the canonical Windows NT implementation for a large fraction of windows games given the relative reliability when compared to Microsoft/NT

@cmb@cathode.church if you do end up needing an LDO on the +/-15V rails, an LTC3260 fed by the non inverting boost might save some board area

@whitequark@social.treehouse.systems @regehr@mastodon.social in my experience as a TA (experimental physics) it's mostly the second; yes there are students who don't want to be there but there are also plenty who do. The problem is that troubleshooting is a skill you need to learn and practice, and that's something that they've had basically no exposure to until they get to their first intro lab.
In my department this is well understood to be basically the entire point of the intro lab and we very intentionally make the instructions less and less detailed as the year goes on
