I am thrilled to have been invited as a visiting international fellow at the University of Victoria (UVic) Libraries, Canada, from July to September 2025. UVic Libraries are about to start something new in September 2025: Kula: Library Futures Academy, a library-based institute of advanced studies.
TIB's commitment towards Open Science means we build and maintain networks with libraries and research institutions all over the world. The current threat to the availability of research data is a strong reminder about the importance of international cooperation.
During my stay in Victoria, I will contribute to UVic Libraries' and KULA's understanding and implementation of Open Science and Citizen Science, related practices and community engagement. I'll present and discuss in workshops, meetings, knowledge sharing coffee events, a podcast, and more. I'll also take a closer look at a few more Open Science-related activities in other places in Canada, mostly in nearby Vancouver and Montreal.
Keep an eye out for more updates. (Mostly on my @Lambo@openbiblio.social, Bluesky, and LinkedIn.) During my stay in Canada, I'll hold my position at TIB - Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology. When you're in Canada, feel free to give me a shout - we could meet up for coffee at UVic. If you're in Europe and want to get in touch, just bear in mind that there's a nine-hour time difference. So, when it's 09:00 in Victoria (UTC-7) in the summer, it's 18:00 in Germany (UTC+2).
