Crazy to to think that previous generations effectively setup our welfare state by borrowing money from future generations.

Of course at the time population decline hadn't yet happened so the economics worked out but they no longer do and the current result is that young people are paying taxes to support the older (and wealthiest) people in their country.

Politics are ineffective because young people are a small voting bloc.

Ran my first 10k in years today. My goal was sub-50 and I’m happy how close I got knowing I was sick the past two days: 50:04.

Still I can’t help but feel I could’ve been closer to 45 (definitely not under) had I been fully fit.

A man needs a h̶o̶b̶b̶y̶ goal.

I cannot explain why government backed browsers engines aren’t a thing yet. With what Chrome has been up to lately and the internet almost a requirement for modern day life; how are we still outsourcing that work to American companies (non-profit or otherwise)?

VO2 Max is adjusted at 40 years of age. I’m beyond proud I managed to hit the highest tier before my 40th this year.

Also funny to think that I could’ve done nothing and I would still gain a tier at 40.

@accudio in my experience it doesn’t really matter what sound you pick. No matter what you pick it’s drowned out by the whining and droning of the machine. You get to experience glimpses of music during the brief pauses.

@philsplace@mastodon.sdf.org Web apps work offline but WebKit has always had bad support for those capabilities. @younata@hachyderm.io yeah. I sometimes try to explain to non-technical people that apps are a strange default but that’s how we’re trained. When someone has to use Safari to use a website the first question is; where is the app? It doesn’t matter if the app is a web view wrapper. It has to be an app in the App Store or people just won’t use the product. Apple (and Google) will happily accept and enforce this status quo though.
