Same fella that just told the EU that the US is its child and always will be. Hmmm, how many parents take the advice of their young teenaged kids?

“You don’t need a DEA warrant or a Justice Department subpoena to see the trend: Europe’s 90‑plus‑percent dependency on US cloud infrastructure, as former European Commission advisor Cristina Caffarra put it, is a single‑shock‑event security nightmare waiting to rupture the EU’s digital stability.”

Sorry Dave, I’m afraid I can’t do that! PCs refuse to shut down after Microsoft patch

“On systems with Secure Launch enabled, attempts to shut down, restart, or hibernate after applying the January patches may fail to complete.”

These glasses solve many central-vision problems. For $5000.

“The device is called eSight Go.” Catchy.

Electrolysis can solve one of our biggest contamination problems

“persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are so chemically stable that they remain in soil, water and organisms for decades… Using an innovative electrochemical method, they are not only able to break down these long-lived pollutants but also to convert them into valuable raw materials for the chemical industry.”

Grid-Scale Bubble Batteries Will Soon Be Everywhere

"This giant bubble on the island of Sardinia holds 2,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide. But the gas wasn’t captured from factory emissions, nor was it pulled from the air. It came from a gas supplier… “The facility compresses and expands CO2 daily in its closed system, turning a turbine that generates 200 megawatt-hours of electricity, or 20 MW over 10 hours.”

What if some civilization in the past already had something like this, and there are ‘plates’ or pieces of rock out there (under sand dunes? written in the sides of those vases from ancient Egypt?) Could they make portable readers that can at least spot old pottery chunks that are probably FULL of videos?

Manipulating the atoms in a crystal to store info is extremely high-precision, as is verifying the accuracy of the write). So is reading positions down to a few nanometers, But consumers wouldn’t need a $6000 reader to get, say, 10GB dumped to a hard drive … you’d carry your crystal and 16GB drive down to the corner store and user their reader to dump sector 37BJ to the drive. No need to trust them with your platter … but are you exposing all 360TB to potential damage from the machine?

Encrypted text is pretty much worthless to LLM. The hard part is getting decrypters to potential readers. RSS could get the text to readers; it could even get decrypters to readers as well … if someone was working on this problem.

This long-term data storage will last 14 billion years

“the medium is silica crystal, similar to optical cable, it’s highly durable. It’s also capacious: The technology can store up to 360 TB of data on a 5-inch glass platter.”

Sounds like a ripping good way to keep corporate data (and government secrets) from the public radar. That way we won’t find out whose hands public taxdollars (or public-owned structures rented to corporations) wind up in.

To quote ChatGPT: “Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT cannot accurately cite sources because they do not have access to the internet and often generate fabricated references. This limitation is common across many LLMs, making them unreliable for tasks that require precise source citation.”
