Seeing 10-22% faster builds moving CI machines from M4 Pro to M5 Max 🚀

RE: @ctp@mastodon.social

Similarly, the single biggest thing Apple could do to unlock AI development for iOS is to build a robust CLI to drive iOS Simulators and devices. AXe and Appium based solutions are way too flaky, only Apple can do this reliably.

It’s hard to quantify the impact that Square has had on the Android ecosystem. Huge.

I’m not a compiler engineer, but rearranging the order Swift compiles generated code made it >2x faster. What’s stopping the Swift compiler itself from doing this? https://github.com/apple/swift-openapi-generator/pull/866

@chris 100% I’ve also found that starting with a prompt and then extracting the procedural parts to scripts referenced by a prompt to be a big win on speed and reliability for agentic workflows

I’m not exactly keen to give Meta any of my attention. It’s been about 10 years since I’ve deleted my Instagram and Facebook accounts because of all the creepy privacy-invading crap they pull.

If a sizeable portion of the iOS dev community moves to Thread, I’ll probably begrudgingly join, but I hope that won’t happen.

I was laid off from Lyft today, so I'm looking for work!
If you're hiring remote or in Montreal, hit me up.
12 years iOS experience, 9 years Swift.
I've worked on low level stuff (networking & databases), product stuff (built transit, bikes & scooters into Lyft), tooling stuff, open source stuff and lots of other stuff.
