@Paul_Taylor@mathstodon.xyz I second all of this. It really is tragic how 'leaders' do not realize how much long term damage they are doing with these choices.
Fortunately, the current US administration is so toxic that at long last people are starting to be open to the idea that maybe it's not the best idea to shackle oneself to US tech giants. Digital sovereignty is something you can advocate for without being laughed out of the room at least.
As such, I feel more hopeful now than in a long while.

Good news for our trans friends:
The European Court of Justice on Thursday ruled that European Union nations must provide transgender citizens with identification documents reflecting their "lived gender" rather than their gender at birth.
To translate this for non-EU people, it's the equivalent of the US supreme court (the ECJ here) ruling that states (the EU Member States here) must respect people's gender choices.

We have migrated #FreeSewing to a new hosting provider this weekend, and unfortunately it didn’t go without issues.
Due to a problem in the backend tooling of a CDN provider, the TLS certificates are not (yet) generated, and this means your browser won’t connect to the website (even though technically it is not down).
Not all is lost though, you can access the site through the name used internally by the hosting platform. Details at:

The @freesewing websites are now cached by Bunny CDN. This should strike a balance between bandwidth costs and latency, and address the usability issues we've been experiencing in recent weeks due to a large influx of new users.
There may very well be other things that start mis-behaving due to these changes, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
