@fedi @Sustainable2050@mastodon.energy That is not really a fair comparison as Firefox is an entire browser, and you are not measuring the individual tab. I'll have my browser open anyways, so that doesn't really count towards memory usage. If you want an accurate overview of what an individual site is using then you should check about:processes.

Additionally, Electron based apps do not support all features on Linux such as fractional scaling properly.

@Sustainable2050 Yes, that is it. It is based on Electron [1], which is essentially an entire Google Chrome browser just wrapped in a way that it presents itself as a single application, in this case Signal.

When I use WhatsApp I can simply use their website [2] to access my messages.

@Sustainable2050 my main problem with Signal is the lack of a web application. I want to use it on my desktop computer, but I don't want to install a heavy Electron based application hogging all the resources.
