It looks like Perro Sanxe is going to be in the World Cup final, probably sitting next to Trump, and now I want a fancam pointing to them for the entire match.

I find it pretty funny that the murderbot audiobooks narrator is called "Kevin Are Free". Pal, are you a construct? Because that's probably the most nb rogue security-coded name that is possible to have in our timeline.

It's so odd how some people around the world changes their surnames when they get married. Like, what the hell, are you supposed to become someone new, with a new totally different family? bonkers.

(This random thought comes from just having to explain to my kid that "Christine" in "Bluey Christine Heeler" is not a surname because in some places they have one surname and two names instead of having two surnames and a name, as it makes sense)

Marco Rubio, about the European US bases:

“I said publicly, and I’ve said repeatedly, I’ve been a strong supporter of Nato throughout my career in the Senate and even now, and one of the advantages of being in Nato is that it allows us to have forces deployed in Europe and bases that allow us a logistical ability to project power in case of contingencies.

We had a contingency and some countries in Europe, some countries in Europe like Spain as an example, denied us the use of those bases for a very important contingency that in some ways, the denial of those bases actually impeded the mission, not severely but had a cost and in fact, even created some unnecessary dangers.

If one of the main reasons why the US is in Nato is the ability to have forces deployed in Europe that we could project to other contingencies, and now that’s no longer the case, at least when it comes to some Nato members, that’s a problem and has to be examined.”

Ok my dude. My bother in Satan. My fellow human being (allegedly). You are so close to see it but somehow still say this horse shit.

Spain gains between very little to nothing at all by having US bases in our territory. Sure, I'm sure countries in other parts of Europe may think different, but for southern Europe, US bases are A CONCESSION we make towards an (allegedly) ally. Because as lil Marco says himself, without the European bases, US wouldn't be able to project force in most of Africa or the middle east, so it wouldn't be a global power anymore.

Those bases are a fucking gift for the US. One that is a key piece of the US hegemony. So you are fucking welcome to pack up and fly your shit back to your side of the Atlantic. Leave the key under the mat when you go.

This whole act of "we are leaving because you don't go whatever we want" may do something with the Germans (I don't know). But with Spain? No one could give less of a fuck.

We just found this vertebra in the middle of our garden and I'm perplexed: this thing is too big to be from a mouse, or even a rat maybe, and... How the hell a single (1) vertebra ended in my garden? If it was from a mouse or similar it could have been dropped by hawk or owl, but I think this may be too big for that?

So, more insights into Mozilla leadership. If you go https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/about/leadership/ and look at Mozilla Corporation, they list 24 people between the executives and the "senior leadership" team. From those, 7 of them came from Meta.

Not bad, 30% of the leadership of the corporation governing over Firefox came from one of the corporations with biggest responsibility on destroying the open internet.

You know something funny?

Mozilla usually announces when they promote or hire a new exec in their corporate blog:

but, SOMEHOW, they seem to have forgotten to announce how they have
hired two Facebook VPs as their new CFO and VP of product.

Actually, I can't find a single news item online announcing their new positions, if you don't go to the Mozilla "leadership" page and check their profiles there, you may not even realize they have given such key positions to people whose biggest achievements are "we created a lot of value for the shareholders by allowing advertisers to target suicidal teenagers and jew-hating people!".

Somehow Mozilla has forgotten to announce such excellent individuals are now steering their ship! whoopsie!

I didn't realize the facebook execs Mozilla acqui-hired last year have been promoted! I was assuming they were still just heading the ads division of Mozilla, but oh boy, I fucking wish.

Now the
former Senior VP of Marketing of facebook (2008-2022, the finest years of facebook) is the CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER of the entire Mozilla.

And the
former VP of Ads in Facebook (2012-2022), is now the Senior VP of Product of Mozilla.

Let me repeat this:

The guy who used to lead the facebook team that was literally "
advertising to teenagers based on their emotional state" is now the guy who decides the direction of Firefox as a product. But hey, let's keep giving Mozilla the benefit of the doubt uh? I'm sure these people-who-should-be-on-trial-in-the-hague are going to do great things for the community!

ok, seriously, I think this is something people don't understand. No one (who doesn't want to risk legal troubles) sell your personal data. That's illegal in lots of countries. Google, Meta, whoever you can think of, don't sell you personal data. What they do is take that personal data and create an ANONYMIZED PROFILE of you. And then, they sell that profile. So when an advertiser wants to target someone like you, they can go to google and pay them to make sure their ads are shown to you and other people that fits the advertiser's specifications. They use your personal data to target you, but they don't sell your personal data to their customers: Their customers don't need it, because Google et al already do the data processing for them. Mozilla, now, is doing EXACTLY THE SAME. The only meaningful difference between them and google/facebook is that facebook stores your personal data (unsellable) and process it to create your (sellable) anonymized profile on their servers. Mozilla, instead, use your own computer to store and process that anonymized profile that then is sent to mozilla servers for selling. The way they use your data, the purpose, and the outcome are exactly the same. The fact they are doing it locally in your laptop instead of in their remote servers is just privacy-washing, a way to convince people who don't know better that their advertisement technology is different and more ethical. But if you are an advertiser? you get exactly the same from Mozilla than from google (actually, since they have introduced programmatic ads and google runs the biggest programmatic ad exchange, I would bet that you are getting exactly the same ads, feed by exactly the same personal-data-sourced anonymous profile, than when you use chrome)

it's literally saying that they use your browsing history to serve you targeted ads. That's what 'selling your browser history' means. Advertisers couldn't care less about which pages you visit: what they care about is about your anonymized profile, so they can accurately target you with custom campaigns. And mozilla uses your personal data on firefox to sell advertisers those profiles. This is EXACTLY the same way Google or Facebook works. Google doesn't sell anyone your browser or search history. Facebook doesn't sell anyone which profiles you follow on instagram or who you message on whatsapp. They use that data to make a profile of you, and that's what they sell to advertisers, that's how they profit from your personal data. And that's exactly what mozilla is doing with firefox.

ok folks, just to be clear:

No one. No one, sells your personal identifiable data on the internet. I mean, yeah, probably the dark web and super shady companies are selling your social security number somewhere. But not major corporation is selling your name or address to advertisers. That's illegal in the EU and multiple other places. They just don't do it and haven't done it for a long, long time.

What they sell is a profile of you. They don't sell "Javiera Mena, whatever whatever street, buenos aires". They sell "Woman, 35 y.o., single, 1 kid, Argentinian, languages spoken: English, Portuguese, Spanish, interests: [ music, hiking, horror movies ], countries visited in the last 12 months: [ Chile, Argentina, Spain ], most used websites: []... ". You get the drill.

Then, advertisers can go and say "we have this ad campaign, and we want to show it to Women between 30 and 40 years old, interested in hiking that have been to the Andes in the last 6 months. And bam! you get the ad. They didn't sold your name, but they very much sold and profited from your data.

This is how Meta operates. This is how google operates. This is how tiktok operates. This is how internet advertising operates, at large.

It looks like this is how Firefox operates now, too.

This is literally in the document: "in some cases, when ads are enabled on New Tab, additional browsing and interaction data (including interactions with our advertisers) may also be processed locally on your device to measure the effectiveness of those ads; the shortcuts feature also uses browsing data locally on your device to select top shortcuts, some of which may be sponsored. Any such data will only be shared with Mozilla and/or our advertising partners via our privacy-preserving technologies on an aggregated and/or de-identified basis. " That's almost exactly the same of how, for example, Facebook ads work.

Firefox updated their Terms of Use? Let's see!

As you type a search query within Firefox, Firefox offers search suggestions to provide you with faster and more direct access to what you’re looking for. Some of the search suggestions come from your search provider (“Search Suggestions”). Others come from Firefox, and are based on information stored on your local device (including recent search terms, open tabs, and previously visited URLs), or content from Mozilla and Mozilla’s partners, including paid sponsors and internet resources like Wikipedia (“Suggestions from Firefox”).

Here chat. Here. This is where Firefox dies.

"information stored in your local device" and "content from mozilla's parners" and "paid sponsors".

This is a very convoluted way of saying "we use your personal data to segment you into something we can sell to advertisers".

This is EXACTLY what chrome does, this is exactly why a lot of us stopped using Chrome and moved back to Firefox.
In some circumstances Mozilla’s partners will receive de-identified search and interaction data, in order to serve relevant suggestions and measure user engagement with suggested content.
This is making me really mad. THIS IS JUST CORPO-SPEAK TO DESCRIBE HOW THE ENTIRE INTERNET ADVERTISEMENT INDUSTRY WORKS. This is HOW FACEBOOK WORK. This is how GOOGLE WORK. This is how the entire programmatic advertisement industry work. This is what we call "sell your personal data". No, no one sells your address, no one sells your name. BECAUSE IT'S ILLEGAL IN A SIGNIFICANT PART OF THE WORLD.
We also work with advertising providers to deliver relevant sponsored content using programmatic technologies. To support this, we may share limited, non-identifying information — such as device type, IP-derived location information, and category of content viewed — to help determine which ads to display. We don’t share any information that identifies you. You can turn off sponsored content in your New Tab settings at any time.
Oh it's so nice of you Mozilla, to do THE MINIMUM LEGAL REQUIREMENTS when selling our data. You don't share information that identify me? so nice of you! you know how else does that? Meta! Google! Tiktok! Somehow big tech mega corporations are willing to comply with the minimum legal requirements as you do, mozilla!
In some cases, we may share or publish aggregated and anonymized data to facilitate research or as part of the lawful business purposes outlined above (such as sharing aggregated insights with advertising partners).
This is called "advertisement segmentation" and it's what it paid for Zuckenberg fortress in Hawaii!! Going places, Moz, you are operating exactly as how Facebook used to do in 2016!
To provide our services as described above, we may disclose personal data to: Partners, service providers, suppliers and contractors
"We never disclose your personal data!!! well, unless it's one of our partners who pays us for it, of course!"

oh wait! they include a table of what kind of data they share with partners!
Technical dataLocationLanguage preferenceSettings dataUnique identifiersSystem performance dataInteraction dataSearch dataBrowsing data
The SHARE FUCKING EVERYTHING. THEY ARE SELLING EVERYTHING. "Unique identifiers" is the closest to personal identifiable data they can sell. That's what advertisers can use to make a profile of you: They may not know your name, but they will know everything else about you.

This is the same information that google collects and sells from you. THE SAME.

Fucking ghouls. This is where Firefox died, folks.

There is this weird idea that pops-up from time to time when the right "thinkers" want to justify the US murdering some people: "it's the only way to free people from communist dictators, is not that they are going to let you vote them out" or similar.

But the fact is that literally, every single communist dictatorship that have transitioned to a "capitalist democracy" had done it ... By voting in free elections organized by their local communist government.

On the other hand, every single communist government that have won an election and have the people support to start economic reforms, every single of them, have been blow up to smithereens by the US empire and its allies. Every single one.

The propaganda when you live in the imperial core is strong. But history is history, and the data is what it is.
