@juliank@mastodon.social @riley@toot.cat @ysegrim@furry.engineer @grendel84@tiny.tilde.website We may be on the exact same webpage now 😄 about the move towards MORE transparancy: https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/ip_22_7739 Do I understand correctly that German judges will in general approve contract clauses that prohibit disclosure of your salary (history) "to strangers"? I'm guessing no Dutch judge would allow such a clause, if they even exist. But NL is much like DE in this regard: talking about your salary or financial situation is socially taboo.

@juliank@mastodon.social @riley@toot.cat @ysegrim@furry.engineer @grendel84@tiny.tilde.website I've never heard of such rules 🙂, and they certainly weren't in my (pre 2008 contracts). Sounds like a very harmful rule for employees in general. Do you have a source to more info about such EU rules existing "generally", if that's what you meant?

@riley@toot.cat @ysegrim@furry.engineer @grendel84@tiny.tilde.website If employees are really forbidden to talk about their salaries (with anyone, including their colleagues), that would be utterly disadvantageous to them, and it should be made illegal! -edit- I read that exactly the wrong way 😄

@tante@tldr.nettime.org @Mazzle@mastodon.social @domhuggur@mastodon.social I don't know if there's such a fundamental difference between accepting Thiel's money or Google's money 🤔 . Personally I try to pay for my usage of online products and services. The only way to escape business models depending on ads and surveillance.

@Mazzle@mastodon.social @domhuggur@mastodon.social @tante@tldr.nettime.org Taking 'dirty Google money', depending on it, is not a viable model ultimately imo. I want Google to die asap. Which would mean no more money for Mozilla 😏.

@Mazzle@mastodon.social @domhuggur@mastodon.social @tante@tldr.nettime.org Mozilla heavily depends on Google's money. If I remember correctly Google pays Mozilla around $500M to be its default search engine 🤔.
