Because it is. It's in Darwin (macOS and iOS kernel), Windows and Linux. And unless you're doing IT + building completely parity in alternatives - or more extreme, reimplementing everything by hand from the spec, then it's not just over, it's moot. It's like the automobile, React and the gun on steroids: no one asked for it, white men with money fueled it and you can avoid it until it hits you directly

Figured this was a better place to ask but @evan@cosocial.ca, with the move to the ActivityPub API (I've been looking and reading over https://github.com/swicg/activitypub-api and looking to see how I can incorporate this in https://divine.video), how do you think this'll fare with existing clients that lean heavy into the Mastodon API?

It's so easy to just languish and not care about anything if the *only* thing you can care about is getting to the next day. Seeing how I treat my mind and body between work (an external force!) reminds me of how much control that has over one.

Perhaps less so if you're with family or coupled and you have a buoy (I'm fortunate to just have the buoy) but noticing that shift in myself is tremendous.

Unfollowing is the cheapest form of self care I can exercise online.
