@jak2k But i am also considering that the AI brainrot may be so severe with many of their participants that they HAD to call it something else to get somewhat honest answers, since even with having to PHYSICALLY LEAVE THEIR COMPUTER to reduce symptoms these folks may be emotionally disinclined to admit even if they were experiencing burnout since it's exactly the pe of thing AI is supposed to reduce in theory.

@jak2k crazy how they don't call their new AI disorder "burnout" bc it's mental instead of physical or emotional? I'm not really getting how "cognitive fatigue, headaches, buzzing, slowed decision-making, & intention to quit" does not qualify as some type of burnout.

@dalias @libramoon @mhoye yes but also lets stop guilt tripping adults into fprcing their entire life to be """kid-friendly.""" At some point kids have to be exposed to the world & that includes the ugly & weird parts. Obviously we want to shield them from abuse, but we should be trying to shield everyone from abuse. I'm just sick of being made to feel weird for being a fully grown adult who swears, talks about sex & nuanced world issues, & is queer because of "the children."

@Kirsty @neromabene @gwynnion every time there's a court case which touches on opt-in vs opt-out schemes, the company in question tells on itself and says out loud on the record that if they made (x) service opt-in with an obvious toggle, not enough people would opt in. They know they are tricking people into using features they don't want. I think the last big one i remember was Apple or Google saying this about data collection for service optimization (which the company then trades of course).
