Why are they still using grub? Part of the changes was thinning out grub for “security”, but systemd-boot exists and is way more secure. Is there a use case I’m missing?

That’s not how AdNauseam works. It sends a network request, but ignores the response. This basically “pokes” the ad server, triggering a payout.
FWIW, AdNauseam is based on uBlock Origin.
