@pete@mas.to @2legged@mastodon.ie Yeah. Alternately, maybe eliminating sex segregated bathrooms would be the best way to reduce the chance that a potential victim ends up alone with a predator? Or, lawmakers could consult research on the circumstances in which assaults occur and what could be done to reduce them. But the people supporting this sort of legislation don't especially seem to care about that. Really.

@holothuroid A commenter MAY reply to a post it determines (by an implementation-dependent mechanism) to most likely be AI generated with the UTF-8 string "ai;dr". Posters conclusively found to be misrepresenting AI generated content as human written SHALL be cast into the abyss of despair from whence none may return.

@aeva@mastodon.gamedev.place Sure they don't shade anything, but then neither do compute shaders, or really anything other than fragment shaders. So the accuracy of this terminology is on par with existing standards. Sounds good.

@jernej__s@infosec.exchange @atax1a@infosec.exchange @thephd@pony.social I 'd assume the original 8086 did *fewer* things in microcode, and the hardware was generally much *closer* to the instruction set. But I'm not a processor designer.

@atax1a@infosec.exchange @thephd@pony.social Yeah. If you want to be really difficult about it, is x86 assembly *actually* a low level language for modern Intel and AMD processors? Does it actually reflect how the microarchitecture really works?

@thephd@pony.social "your computer is not a PDP-11" - Hm, has anyone made a Mastadon client for the PDP-11 yet? Then they can yell at their VT100 when you make a comment like this. Not only is pure conformant ISO C insufficient for kernel or embedded development. How many non-trivial C applications or libraries at all are actually portable to all conformant implementations? (No OS specific calls, doesn't assume 8 bit bytes, works with 16-bit ints...) You see enough trouble with endianness and alignment.
