Three years after my first toot, I'm here for my second toot. I'm confused about instances - it seems that I need to join each one with a new account? But supposedly one of the benefits of Mastodon is the access to many different communities via one address? Can anyone clarify?

This might be my first toot? The urge to type, "Pull my finger," is profound.
