Hi to all

Unless anything is particularly urgent, Leasey updates are on hold for a couple of months or thereabouts.
That does not mean development has stopped; far from it. Leasey is undergoing some very significant design changes and improvements. The beta testers now have some of these new features and design changes in their hands now, and noone is throwing up their hands in horror! In fact, I can say they are loving the changes so far.

When you undertake serious development of this kind, not only does it take time, but in view of what I have in mind for this next update the documentation changes are considerable by anyone's standards.
Collectively, the beta testers and I want to handle these many new features and improvements carefully, to ensure all documentation is clearly explained and the information is in Leasey Quick Steps.

I'm not ready at this point to go into detail about the new changes. But I hope you will love them as much as we all seem to. When we're ready to at least talk about them, I will start discussing them over a number of weeks. Some of them require a lot of explanation. Trust me. Nothing will be at all daunting in terms of how to use them.
I am working to a target date of late July for release but that could easily move, and if it needs to, then it does. We're not going to rush this.

Anyone who is using version 11 now will receive these new improvements at no additional cost.

So please be patient, and I'll be back with you when I have something useful to say.

Leasey Quick Steps is a brand-new feature that transforms how people learn and use Leasey.
Instead of digging through documentation, ask a question or enter a broad subject.

It is like having a built-in expert guiding you exactly when you need help.

Other Changes.

There are many documentation changes.

ChatGPT. Having submitted a prompt, if Leasey sounds are disabled you will no longer hear the progress indicator sound play. Messages are spoken instead. When sounds are enabled, you hear the progress indicator sound. When Sounds and Speech is selected, you hear both.

ChatGPT. If a user has their own ChatGPT API key, an item is at the bottom of the chat menu which will allow access to the web page containing
credit balance.

LeaseyCuts. If your LeaseyCuts pointing to web pages are not in the new format, Leasey converts them automatically without the need to do so manually.

Leasey Help. Some items at the top of the menu have been rearranged. They are now presented in this order:
Check for Updates.
Quick Steps.
Ask Leasey about keystrokes.
Leasey keystrokes in full.
Leasey documentation in full.
Leasey Quizical.
Then the remainder of the items.

1Password. The freely available JAWS scripts to support the 1Password app are now included within Leasey.

LeaseyPoints for bookmarking text on web pages and Microsoft Word documents. The component for web pages has been rewritten. For users who already have LeaseyPoints they rely upon, it is recommended they switch to Domain Mode rather than Page Mode.

Various.
If you carry out a ChatGPT query, then subsequently check for Leasey updates, JAWS does not speak the last ChatGPT response.

The keystroke, Leasey Key then Y to speak a Leasey Sticky Note, has been reinstated.

When copying text from an Outlook Classic message, it is now possible to do so using Onscreen Highlight rather than just the Virtual Cursor output.

In Outlook Classic, when moving through the Ribbon Bar, JAWS should no longer say the word Comma if punctuation level is set to Some or None.

In Thunderbird, if Email messages are set to read automatically, this should now work correctly. This is a problem with JAWS by default which has been resolved within Leasey.

Typing the Grave Accent sign twice quickly should now work correctly using some specific keyboards.

Corrected a problem with LeaseyGames licensing in version 11 if the games have not been installed before.

Version 3 of the JAWS scripts for Microsoft Teams have been updated.
Improved reliability of the reading of message replies using the new Reverse Quoting feature and also for the keystrokes to check the status of the microphone and camera when in a meeting.

Leasey and the WhatsApp scripts have been updated.
Significantly improved automatic reading of messages when in groups.
The audio tone is back to denote voice messages.

Leasey and the WhatsApp scripts have been updated. Fixed a problem where the name of the person typing was not being spoken or sent to Braille within specific countries.

As a reminder, Hartgen Consultancy is closed from the evening of Thursday 2 April through to the morning of Tuesday 7 April due to UK public holidays.

New in Build 1121.

If the service on which the Leasey Weather app relies is unavailable, Leasey will use an alternative source instead so as to provide some basic weather information relative to the entered location.

The web outage we had should be resolved now with various services and everything should start to become available very shortly.

People in the US are currently experiencing difficulties accessing a number of our services, such as product activations and Leasey functionality. In the UK we do not seem to have an issue.
We are waiting for a resolution to this problem and apologise for the inconvenience.

20 April approximately: Update to Leasey containing Leasey Quick Steps. There are other aspects being worked on for the Leasey update and it is hoped that the date will not slip back too much.

Leasey improvement. Sports and Games. When listing Baseball games for a specific date and applying a filter by team, any games which had completed were not giving the final score. You could manually query the game to return the final score but it was not automatic. This is resolved. There is no need to check for updates.

Zoom scripts updated to build 114.
This is the first release to support Zoom version 7, although it is still compatible with version 6.
When in the Contacts Tab, pressing the Tab key now allows you to reach the New Contact button.

J-Say 24 has been updated to build 5.
Outlook Classic. When saving a list of attachments to a designated folder, an item now appears at the top of the attachments list, Save All Attachments. This allows all attachments to be saved regardless of how many are present as part of the Email.
In addition, the terms of the License Agreement have been updated. These are always available to view from any page of the Hartgen Consultancy web site.

Fixed a problem with renaming LeaseyCuts pointing to web pages under the new system.

Rewrote the entire Leasey Calculator feature to ensure greater reliability, found under LeaseySearch.

Update to the Leasey Podcast interface.
Improved overall formatting of show notes so as to include bullet points and blank lines. There is no need to check for updates. Just begin using it.

Zoom Conferencing, Phone.
While delivering training today, it became evident that the interface for accessing Zoom contacts has completely changed very recently. For example, using the current interface with JAWS, it is not possible to add a new contact or to browse existing contacts.
As a short-term measure, enabling the JAWS Virtual cursor is a partial workaround. However, there are many concerns with this including encountering unlabeled elements.
In future weeks, the JAWS scripts for Zoom will address these issues in the short-term while it is hoped that the level of accessibility will be enhanced within upcoming Zoom builds.

For users of X, previously Twitter. Many posts are now far longer than 280 characters. These become truncated. A function has been written within the scripts for X which expand these posts.
This will be made available in the scripts for X and Leasey. There are one or two other changes being worked on for Leasey at the moment, so it will take a week or two before this filters through as the updates will happen all at once. But it should make reading these posts easier.

When Breakout rooms are set to expire after a number of minutes, each time a keystroke is pressed such as Tab, JAWS was repeating the remaining time over and over. Build 113 improves on this further particularly in the tree view.

Leasey and the WhatsApp scripts have been updated.
WhatsApp. When the option is set to play the typing indicator sound, or to report the name of the person typing, the information is now given within groups and not just individual contacts.

Zoom scripts have been updated to build 112.

For when the products are launched, the JAWS scripts for StationPlaylist 6.2, and the new SPL Remote, are available.
The layout of this product is quite different to many previous releases, so it is likely that future updates will follow. But they have been used for regular broadcasting and within automation. We have been testing them since 30 September 2025.
You should not install them if you are using StationPlaylist 6.11 or earlier. That should be obvious but is worth saying.
For this reason, the scripts for both 6.11 and 6.2 are listed on the StationPlaylist page of the company web site and it is likely they will remain there for at least 12 months.
If you do plan to use 6.2 when it is released, you are seriously advised to install it and the scripts when you have plenty of time to be assured that everything is working correctly.
