Oh yay, nothing like having to complete a drug test to qualify for employment, with the appointment window at the most convenient location being /this/ close to the deadline to get it done.
So scrambling to find one that takes walk-ins or an appointment with enough leeway to make other arrangements if that falls though.
Also, and I can't even take a Xanax because drug test.
Time to start the background check process for the new job. Never raised any flags back in the day when something /might/ have come up, but there's always something in the back of my head that wonders...

So begins my first day of actual unemployment since [checks] January 2008. I'm spending the day catching up on transfer of health insurance benefits (thanks a bunch, US "health care system").
I told myself when I started this position that I wanted it to be my last tech job. I still mostly feel that way but I was hoping it would have lasted a bit longer.
